Frequently Asked Questions

The frequency of trauma release exercises (TRE) can vary depending on the individual and their specific needs. Some people may benefit from doing TRE on a daily basis, while others may find it helpful to do TRE a few times a week.

It is generally recommended to start with a series of TRE sessions, with each session lasting about an hour. After the initial series of sessions, you can work with a TRE provider to determine the best frequency for continuing TRE practice.

Neurogenic tremors are a natural response of the body when faced with stress or trauma. Neurogenic tremors are ususally involuntary, rhythmic muscle contractions that are typically triggered by stress or trauma and help the body release tension and stress from the muscles. These tremors are often accompanied by a feeling of relaxation and a release of emotions.

TRE is designed to help people release tension and stress from the body by consciously activating the same tremor response which allows us to release stored stress, tension and trauma. The beauty of TRE is that you are in complete control of the process.

This process allows TRE to be an effective tool for managing stress and trauma, and can be helpful in improving overall well-being.

There are a few different ways to learn trauma release exercises (TRE):

  • Attend a TRE workshop: Many TRE providers offer workshops or classes that are designed to introduce people to the principles and techniques of TRE. These workshops usually involve a series of sessions that are led by a certified TRE provider.
  • Work with a certified TRE provider: Another option is to work with a certified TRE provider one-on-one or in a small group setting. This can be a good option for those who prefer a more personalized approach to learning TRE.
  • Read about TRE: There are a number of books and online resources available that provide information about TRE. Reading about TRE can be a good way to learn more about the principles and techniques involved in these exercises.

Because TRE relaxes tightly held muscles and the overall body fascia, buried emotions can surface for some people during deep muscular relaxation.

Others report no particular emotional feelings and just experience a physical shaking that leads to reduced stress.

Both situations are perfect. Each session is unique. The body simply does what it needs to do. The goal is to allow this process to emerge naturally.

The exercises activate a shaking mechanism, which causes the muscles to relax. Relaxing tense muscle patterns can often reduce stress in the spine, neck, shoulders and pelvis. When tension is released anywhere in the body, the brain registers a reduction in pain signals, producing new hormones that promotes healing.

Exercise, workouts and yoga often reduce tension in the muscles and help increase strength and flexibility. Many tension patterns and contractions are deep inside the body, often without our conscious awareness. TRE uncovers these less conscious but obvious tension patterns. The contractions release tension at this deeper level. When this occurs, the body takes on greater flexibility and resilience. This increased awareness of a ‘deeper sense of self’ often extends itself into the realm of the ‘spiritual’ to which many people aspire. Once there is a deeper felt sense of oneself, there is a natural deeper sense of connection to others and the ‘universe’ or the ‘spiritual’.
